"Soleil d’Oc" is the first solar electric-powered boat available to the public.

Canal du Midi

Dominique Renouf is worried about damage to the banks of canals in France and the danger to the ecosystem caused by increasing traffic.

For this reason, in the spring of 2007, she commissioned the first electrically-powered canal boat open to the public called the Soleil d’Oc on the Canal du Midi. This boat leaves no chemical footprint or noise pollution in its wake.

The boat has been fitted out on one single level to make it accessible by wheelchair and easy-to-use for blind people.
