Abbaye de Valmagne
One of the best preserved monuments of Cistercian art. Each year, the Abbey de Valmagne welcomes nearly 30,000 visitors to admire the cloister, its magnificent fountain and gardens of the twelfth and fourteenth centuries, the Gothic church, the chapter house and the monastic outbuildings.
Cathedral of the Vines
One of the few abbeys to have kept its wine estate, Valmagne has produced great, quality wines for eight centuries, today in the appellations of “Coteaux du Languedoc” and “Grès de Montpellier”. The Abbey of Valmagne was nicknamed the Cathedral of the Vines in homage to its exceptional setting and the fame of its wines exported throughout the world.
A magnificent setting which exalts the works performed
The venerable walls of the abbey, dedicated for so many years to silence, have resonated for the last twenty years with the melodious strains of works from the Middle Ages to the present during the festival of classical music.
