Golf in Languedoc Roussillon

With its extraordinary climate and over 300 days of sunshine per year, the Languedoc-Roussillon in South of France attracts many fans of the little round ball.

From golfcourses located near the coast to those set in the Lozère or high up in the Pyrenees Mountains, the twenty-two golf courses of the South of France, Languedoc-Roussillon offer holidays for beginners and experts alike, lovers of nature and Mediterranean landscapes, whether they be looking for a true athletic experience, relaxation or just a privileged moment among friends.

The department of Hérault is pretty well endowed, with Saint Thomas golf course in Béziers. At the gateway to Montpellier, there’s Coulondres golf course near pic Saint-Loup, nestling between the Mediterranean sea and the Cévennes hills. Montpellier-Massane golf course in Baillargues was designed by the American architect Ronald Fream, like the one in Cap d’Agde, on the coast. La Grande-Motte has a Floridian style golf course designed by the American, Trent Jones.

In the Eastern Pyrenees, top level sportsmen train at the Font Romeu golf course, against a panorama of mountains, while in Lamalou-les-Bains the wooded course offers a pleasant alternative to a spa holiday. At the Spanish border, the Falgos golf resort in Saint-Laurent-de-Cerdans - capital of vigatane espadrilles - has an attractive course in the Catalan sunshine. At the foot of Canigou, Montescot golf club has commanding views.

In Aude, Carcassonne golf course offers a panoramic view of the Pyrenees and the Black Mountains amidst rabbits and squirrels.

At the gateway to Camargue, in Nîmes, there is the golf course of Vacquerolles and that of Campagne, one of the most beautiful courses in France, designed by Leonard Morandi and Donald Harradine. Uzès also has a golf course that is open all year round.

And finally, the Tarn Gorges with the wooded La Canourgue golf course in Lozère designed by the architect Chris Pittman.
