Florac

Florac is situated in the heart of the Cévennes National Park, at the crossroads of the Grands Causses, the Cévennes and Mont Lozère, between the lands of the Huguenots and the Catholics’ fortresses.

Florac - cevennes Florac - Cevennes

The pretty town Florac that marks the frontier between Protestants and Catholics has retained its old back streets with their high, narrow house fronts. The well-marked route through the old town will enable you to discover the history of a little citadel with a tumultuous past.

The Pêcher Spring, which comes to the surface in the heart of the town, forms cascades and ponds (a perfect home for trout). There is a magnificent panoramic view to be had from the Rochefort observation point. The château is home to the offices of the Cévennes National Park.

Florac also has a wide range of leisure activities on offer: walking, pony trekking, mountain-biking, river bathing, canoeing, caving in the Grandes Causses, canyoning, hang-gliding... It’s the ideal place for holidays with the accent on nature, discovering the flora and fauna of the surrounding area and, for those who prefer less strenuous activities, there are lots of local products just waiting to be discovered...

Agenda: - End of October to beginning of November: Festival of Soup.
