Mosset

The village is perched on its rocky promontory, proudly commanding the Castellane valley. Its rich heritage lies in its narrow medieval streets and its spring-water fountains.

Mosset Mosset

One of the most beautiful villages of France. The population of the village is grouped at the top of a rocky spur at an altitude of 710 metres, around a 12th-century castle. At that period Mosset was a frontier fortification surrounded by a defensive wall... Today there still remain towers, curtain-walls and the town gates. The village is also proud of its church of St Julien, built close to the outer ramparts. The façades of many of the houses display pieces of local grey marble that were pillaged from the castle at the time of the French Revolution. The village can also boast an exceptional wealth of flora and fauna.
