Now six villages from the Herault region have joined forces to bring about a revival of the gentlemen glassblowers. Follow the Glassmakers Route to discover the history of glassmaking in the region, from the Renaissance to the present day. Visit the old glassworks at Couloubrines, where the dynasty of La Roque glassmakers was born.

15 km from Perpignan, tucked between the Mediterranean and Albères, à a stone's throw from Spain within sight of the Canigou, Palau del Vidre, a little 11th century Catalan village has always been a favourite haunt of glass blowers. To commemorate their culture and heritage, the village organises the International Glass Festival of Glass, in which master glass blowers from around the world meet, create and display their works.
