Di Rosa - Musée Paul Valéry de Sète
At the end of the 1970’s, two artists from Sète, Robert Combas et Hervé Di Rosa, would create a new current that was baptised “free style”. Their work used simple images, highly coloured, often funny and narrative, which were inspired by comic-strip codes. Hervé Di Rosa is the president of the International Museum of Modest Arts in Sète which he helped found in 2000.
The renovation of the Fabre Museum de Montpellier has enabled the painting of Pierre Soulages to at last find the right kind of space in which it can be appreciated. His large canvases, abstract and sombre, where black dominates, use rhythm, space and light to provoke new visual sensations and to plunge the visitor into a new universal dimension.
