St Valentine's Festival

To celebrate St Valentine’s day, the village of Roquemaure in the Gard whisks us back to 1868

Fête de la Saint Valentin St Valentine's Festival

Its streets and shops are decorated in the style of the time, right down to the merry-go-round.

The hairdresser becomes a barber again, the pharmacist an apothecary, the florist a 'bouquetière', and the villagers parade in period costume.

The wine producers raise a glass to the god Bacchus and invite everyone to a wine tasting at the ‘Fountain of Love’, in honour of the patron saint of lovers.
