The Wines of Banyuls and Collioure

Located at the gateway to Spain, the terroir of Banyuls and Collioure is delimited by the 4 ports of the Côte Vermeille: Collioure, Port Vendres, Banyuls-sur-Mer and Cerbère.

Le vignoble de Banyuls The vineyards of Banyuls

In Languedoc-Roussillon, in the vineyards of Banyuls, the winegrowers produce wines based on Grenache, which, depending on their age and the various refining and maturing techniques, present rich  glints ranging from gold, to garnet, ruby, red tile, mahogany and a coffee brown. An extraordinary palet of evolving tastes evokes candied or dried fruit, nuts, liquorice, toasted flavours, orange peel, moka and cocoa.

Sculpted over the years by the hand of man, the vineyard of Banyuls took root between the sea and the mountains, on an arid soil, tormented by the sun and the wind. The wines of Banyuls and Collioure are above all wines of pleasure. The vines, exposed to a generous climate, produce expressive wines, that are rich, powerful, elegant and distinguished, holding the heat of the sun and the hardiness of the schist soil.

And in the middle of these vines stands the impressive site of the great cellars of the Cellier des Templiers. Visits take you through the terrace cultivation and secrets of refining and maturing the great wines of Banyuls and Collioure. They are also an occasion to taste exceptional products.

The vineyard of Banyuls, with the wealth of 25 centuries of history, is a veritable human work, “sculpted” and maintained by innumerable generations of winegrowers.

Collioure tourist office has created a link with this unique setting, enhanced by great painters.
