 The Gîtes de France network offers a wide selection of Gîtes (self catering holiday homes).

Many of them are in the countryside or in small picturesque villages, but you can also find them in towns. Gîtes range from neat apartments to large country houses, and from romantic getaways to stopover gîtes (known as ‘Gîtes d’etape’) for walkers.

In France, B&B rooms are known as ‘Chambres d'hôtes’ and are a little different to those in the UK. You eat with the hosts, and you can sometimes join them for dinner (Table d'hôtes) as well as breakfast. Chambres d'hôtes range from simple bedrooms in village homes to opulent suites in manor houses. You can even stay in a castle.
