
The 20th Transhumance Festival takes place on the 27th May 2012 at the Col de Bonnecombe.
On the feast day of Saint Urbain, the herds of cattle trek up from the surrounding valleys to the Aubrac plateau and spend all summer there among the green pastures before returning for the Festival of Saint Géraud in October.
Since 1993, this ancestral tradition of transhumance has become a popular, lively and colourful festival which takes place on the Sunday nearest to the 25th May.
Programme:
- 10.30am: celebration mass
- 11.30am: benediction of the 1st herd
- 12.30pm – 3.30pm: procession of herds
- 6pm: Option to follow the herd (on registration). Prize draw
All day: folklore events and Occitan songs, exhibition-sale of regional products, catering, aligot-sausage...
