"Les Camellias de la Prairie"
Located in Alès in the Cevennes region, “Les Camellias de la Prairie” Park was designed in the early 20th century by Jean Ignal. These days, Bernard Pical — none other than popular gardener 'Bernard le jardinier' (‘Bernard the Gardener’)— and his team, are committed to upholding the traditions of this high temple of plant life, displaying the collection of rare plants not only to camellia lovers and passionate botanists but also to enthusiastic newcomers to the art of gardening.
This unique garden has over 200 varieties of camellias, more than 700 individual plants, of which some are a hundred years old and unique in France. It has been listed since 2007 at the National Conservatory of Specialist Plant Collections. Events and presentations all year round.
